BECK ON BEANS: Authentic Donut Shop Blend Original Dark Roast Coffee by Cor.
Authentic Donut Shop Blend Original Dark Roast Coffee by Cor
Fragrance:
Verdant. Wet, charred wood and floral. There’s something hitting my nose the same way as sugar or rose or mint, but I can’t make it out and it’s VERY subtle. Tiny hint of chocolate.
Flavor:
Very mild start. The roast flavor is carbon heavy. Aftertaste leaves a spicy note, like cinnamon sticks and sugar. And maybe a hint of licorice?? This is a very complex cup! Why are you calling this “Donut shop?” This is more like something someone picked in his back yard and brewed freshly for me!
I’m very impressed with these Cor products. They clearly know their coffee, but they’re trying to stay relevant to the masses by releasing “donut shop” type labels.
Recommended for:
- Sipping and savoring. The aftertaste on this cup is more delightful than the sip itself! This could easily be served as a dessert coffee black after a meal.
- Drinking black. Granted, I didn’t try it with cream and sugar, but I truly believe it would ruin the cup. And I wanna keep drinking it. I love giving a thorough review, but I love good coffee more. π ☕️ I’m concerned additives will drown out that slight hint of spice at the end of the sip and that’s my favorite part.
Not recommended for:
- Coffee on the go. This is not a cup you spill into a Yeti and pound on the way to work. You've got to give it some due attention to really "get it."
- Additives. I know. I didn’t try it that way and I’d be happy to. However, I’m not giving up the one beautiful cup I have for it. I’d be sad to see folks drowning this cup in accoutrements before giving it a real shot in its naked glory.
Would I buy again?
Definitely. This is a cup I’d serve to guests. The labeling isn’t pretentious but it sure tastes like a snobby brew. :)
