BeckEats: Arden’s Garden Green Energy Machine Cold Pressed Vegetable Juice

BeckEats: Arden’s Garden Cold Pressed Vegetable Juice, Green Energy Machine.

Welcome back to the #BeckThinks blog! Thank you for your patience on my short hiatus. I was busy helping move my family back to my hometown of Atlanta. We bought a home in the suburbs that we have deemed "The Treehouse" and we could not be happier.

In celebration of my family's eager return to The A, I'd like to highlight an Atlanta business that has been part of my consciousness for the majority of my life, Arden's Garden.
But first, let's back up a step. As I may have previously mentioned, I have multiple food allergies and sensitivities that I’ve adjusted to over the last year. The short list includes gluten, dairy, nightshades (dried spices seem mildly reactive), stone fruits, and raw birch fruits (oral allergy syndrome).

*sings* AND A PARTRIDGE IN A PEAAAAAR TREEEEEE! (Ironically, I’m not allergic to either of those things. Merry Christmas, me. I’ll take them golden rings, tho.)

I also have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, an autoimmune disease impacting the thyroid. Because of this, I avoid all soy because it is known to exacerbate thyroid conditions.

Easy, right? Nah.

I may have also previously mentioned that I was never much of a cook. Nothing like a literal trial by fire. It’s been an interesting year in a culinary sense. I've basically had to learn how to feed myself all over again. So if you want to read about it, drop me a comment and let me know. I've got recipes and workout routines I'll happily share. Throughout all these health adventures, I’ve gotten much better at truly nourishing myself than I was when I ate biscuits and sausage gravy at Hardee’s. (Mad respect to Hardee's gravy game. Tell my butter biscuits I miss them. We had fun while it lasted.) Though I know convenience food is often harmful to my body, I sure do miss the spontaneity and portability of a drive-thru or processed foods. Since it's very hard for me to eat food I don't cook myself, I had nearly given up on the idea of safe grab-and-go nourishment.
ARDEN’S GARDEN TO THE RESCUE!

As an Atlanta native, I knew Arden's Garden as the super cool corner juice shop that I loved to visit in Little 5 and Vinings. It wasn't until I spotted these single-serving bottles at Publix that I realized I could make Arden's Garden part of my daily nutrition.

One of my favorite ways to make sure I’m getting my greens is with green juices from Arden’s Garden; particularly Green Energy Machine. This juice is vegan, non-gmo, AND gluten free. Plus, each 15.2 fluid ounce bottle of 100% juice contains over TWO POUNDS of produce. Have YOU eaten two pounds of produce in one sitting lately??? I know. Nearly everyone in my age range was traumatized by health drinks somewhere between their first and hundredth viewing of The Neverending Story. That and the concept of an egg froth mustache. (Don’t eat raw eggs, kids. Or drink them. Or have dirty mustaches.)

Trust me on this, friends. You won’t be sorry. (Like Bastion’s dad’s shorts probably were.)     Sincerely, though, I am so pleased to introduce my readers to Arden’s Garden, an Atlanta institution for most of my life.

Arden Zinn, a dancer passionate about healthy nourishment, may have single-handedly brought the juice craze to Atlanta in the 1970s. Even before it was cool, Arden was cranking out one bottle at a time from her kitchen and selling out at nearby farmers’ markets. Slowly, as interest in juice and healthy nourishment grew, Arden needed more produce, then more juicers. After a genius move of marketing her juices to the ladies in hair salons, Arden’s Garden took off like a wheatgrass shot! After a while, Atlanta cried out for more juice than Arden could handle on her own. So, on February 1, 1995, Arden and her grown children opened the first of 2 Arden’s Garden squeezing facilities and 16 Arden’s Garden retail stores. Now with regional distribution to Publix, Kroger, and Whole Foods, that corner juice shop has grown into a juggernaut.

But, Beck… some of the “healthy” juices out there are pretty disgusting and the ones that aren’t are loaded with added sugars. Why should I chance it?

Let me count the ways.
  1. This stuff is craveably delicious. Not too sweet and so refreshing, the ingredients in Green Energy Machine include cucumber, celery, apple juice, spinach, kale, and ginger. I dunno about you, but I’ve NEVER craved celery or kale. But, here I am sipping away on this gorgeous, fresh, hydrating elixir of deliciousness.
  2. Green Energy Machine is 100% Cold Pressed Vegetable Juice. There’s no added water, so it’s 100% nutrients. (For the record, my second favorite is Yoga 1 which has added water. It’s still 77% juice and includes 2 lbs of produce.)
  3. Zero added sugar. Of course, fruits and juices are always going to provide natural sugar, but you won’t get a spoonful of the processed stuff.
  4. 30% DV of vitamin C, 12% DV of vitamin A, 19% DV of potassium, 8% DV of Iron, 8% DV of calcium, 8% DV dietary fiber.
  5. That million dollar nourished and hydrated feeling you get after sucking down the juice of two pounds of produce. Green Energy Machine definitely awakens the warrior inside and gives me an incredible mid-day, post-workout reset.
  6. You deserve things that taste just as good as they make you feel.

I wholeheartedly recommend that anyone concerned about meeting their body's needs considers the juices from Arden's Garden. Not only will you support a staple of Atlanta's local business community, but as their bottles say, you'll share in Arden Zinn's goal; "good health for all."

So, there it is, friends! A little about my current health related shifts and a lot about the incredible Arden’s Garden Green Energy Machine Cold Pressed Vegetable Juice. If you wanna hear any more about my allergy friendly eats or current workout practices, please let me know in the comments.

Thanks for sticking with me, friends. Peace, love, and delicious green things!
